EKSEKUTIF

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Buku ini mengandungi Pelan Pembangunan Geopark Negara 2021-2030
(PPGN 2021-2030) yang diwujudkan sebagai panduan dan hala tuju (way
forward) bagi memastikan pihak-pihak berkepentingan sama ada agensi
di peringkat Persekutuan dan Negeri dapat melaksanakan pembangunan
geopark ke arah pengiktirafan sebagai Geopark Kebangsaan atau setara di
peringkat global dengan sistematik dan terurus. Penyediaan PPGN 2021-
2030 adalah selaras dengan garis panduan yang dinyatakan dalam dokumen
Operational Guideline for UNESCO Global Geopark (UGGp), 2016.

Dokumen ini turut menggariskan elemen pemeliharaan dan pemuliharaan
tapak-tapak di yang telah dikenal pasti berserta penglibatan pelbagai pihak
berkepentingan bagi menjamin kelestarian geopark. Terdapat sembilan
(9) Bab yang dirangkumkan di dalam PPGN 2021-2030 iaitu Pengenalan,
UNESCO Global Geopark (UGGp), Geopark Kebangsaan, Kepentingan
Geopark kepada Negara, Konsep Pembangunan Geopark selari dengan
Matlamat Pembangunan Lestari (SDG’s), Geopark sebagai Agen
Pembangunan Negara, Strategi Pembangunan Geopark, Gerak Kerja ke
Arah Penubuhan Geopark dan Hala Tuju Geopark Negara.

This book serves as a roadmap for the National Geopark Development Plan
for the years 2021-2030 (PPGN 2021-2030). Its purpose is to guide and direct
stakeholders, including agencies at the Federal and State levels, towards
the systematic and managed development of geoparks. The ultimate goal
is to achieve recognition of a national or equivalent Geopark on a global
scale.The preparation of PPGN 2021-2030 aligns with the guidelines in the
Operational Guideline for UNESCO Global Geopark (UGGp) document,
2016.

This document also outlines the elements of preservation and conservation
of the sites that have been identified along with the involvement of various
relevant stakeholders to ensure the sustainability of the geopark. There are
nine (9) Chapters summarized in PPGN 2021-2030 which are Introduction,
UNESCO Global Geopark (UGGp), National Geopark, Importance of Geopark
to the Country, Concept of Geopark Development in line with the Sustainable
Development Goals (SDG’s), Geopark as a National Development Agent,
Geopark Development Strategy, Work towards the Establishment of Geopark
and Direction of National Geopark.
